Esposizione di Dinky Toys presso l'Amersham Museum (Regno Unito)

Dal Dinky Toys Collectors Association ricevo questo comunicato che diffondo volentieri:

Amersham Museum Opens New Dinky Toy Exhibition
Amersham Museum's extensive collection of Dinky Toys will be on display
for the first time this autumn. From 18th October visitors to the museum
will be able to see the museum's collection of over 150 toys, on display
together for the first time.

The museum was given the majority of the collection in 2006, when it was
transferred from Wandsworth Museum. Originally amassed by local resident
Chris Salaman, the vehicles were purchased from Butler's toy shop in old
Amersham in the late 1950s and early 1960s when he was a child. The
collection includes cars, heavy goods vehicles and military vehicles and is
complemented by a large number of Meccano magazines and Dinky booklets
which advertised the toys.

There are toys manufactured at the main Binns
Road factory in Liverpool as well as those produced in France. There are
also some modern replicas of both the British and French models.
Visitors to the exhibition can explore the collection, share their Dinky
memories and try to order the cars in chronological order on the Dinky
timeline. Younger visitors can participate in Dinky themed craft
activities. On Saturday 11th November there will be a special Dinky Day,
with activities, talks and an opportunity to meet Chris and find out about
his collection.
The exhibition runs Wednesday-Sunday 12 -4.30pm from 18th October to Sunday
26th November.

The museum is open Wednesday - Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays, 12 noon -
4.30pm. Admission is £3 adults, children free. Many of the activities for
families are free after admission.
Enquiries should be directed to Emily Toettcher, Curator on 01494 723700.
